Hydrogen Technologies – High production rates for fuel cells

To create a sustainable road traffic system, hundreds of thousands of fuel cells will be needed for hydrogen-powered cars in the future. Until now, though, fuel cell production has been complex and too slow. The Fraunhofer team is therefore developing a continuous production line that will be able to process fuel cell components in cycles lasting just seconds. The pilot line is set to be presented at the Hannover Messe Digital Edition from April 12 to April 16, 2021.

EPIC is a long-term cooperation between the Fraunhofer Institutes IPT, IPK, IPA, Fraunhofer Austria and the Hungarian partners of EPIC Inno Labs, SZTAKI and BME. The cooperation's goal is to establish a center of excellence for Cyber Physical Production Systems

HEAD-Demonstrator

In the HEAD project, Fraunhofer IPT and SCAI are researching how tool wear can be determined automatically from acoustic emission with the help of machine learning. Our goal is to increase both the robustness of the production process and the availability of machines, while maintaining a high production quality.

Turning Data into Sustainability – Under the new guiding theme of AWK'21, the aim is to shed light on how manufacturing companies can achieve rapid, error-free improvements in series production through demand-driven data acquisition and machine learning, and how they can thereby produce resiliently and sustainably.
