Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirt. Ing. Günther Schuh
Professor Günther Schuh studied Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Management 1978 – 1985 at the RWTH University Aachen. He was awarded a doctorate in 1988 after a period as a research associate at the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering WZL at the RWTH University in Aachen under Professor Walter Eversheim, by whom he was employed as senior engineer until 1990.
In 1990, he took up a full-time post as lecturer in Manufacturing and Industrial Management at the University of St Gallen (HSG). Three years later, in 1993, he was appointed Professor of Industrial Production Management and, at the same time, became a member of the Board of Directors at the Institute for Technology Management. Professor Günther Schuh is the founder and Managing Director of the Consulting and Software Company GPS Komplexitätsmanagement GmbH, (now: Schuh (Holding) GmbH with six subsidiaries in Aachen, St. Gallen (CH) und Atlanta (USA)).
In 1991, he was awarded the Otto Kienzle Commemorative Medal of the Scientific Society for Production Technology (WGP).
He returned to the RWTH University, Aachen in 2002 to take up the position of Chair of Production Systems whilst also serving as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering WZL at the RWTH University in Aachen and of the Fraunhofer IPT in Aachen. Since October 2004 he had additionally been a director of the Institute for Industrial Management (FIR). Professor Günther Schuh was Vice-Rector of the RWTH University Aachen from 2008 to 2012.
Since 2014, he has been a member of the senate of acatech – the German Academy of Science and Engineering. Professor Günther Schuh was presented with the Otto-Kienzle Commemorative Coin by the Scientific Association for Production Technology, WGP in 1991. Professor Schuh has frequently won prizes for his scientific research papers as part of the Swiss Technology Competition.
His research priorities are in the innovation management, technology management, production management, factory planning and corporate development sectors. Additionally, Industry 4.0, the fourth industrial revolution has become an increasingly relevant factor in research projects and in light of this development, projects are currently in progress within his own demonstration factory.
He is an active member of a number of supervisory, administrative and advisory boards and has been Chief Executive Officer of the company e.GO Mobile AG since January 2015. He was one a co-founder of the company StreetScooter GmbH, which was bought in 2014 by Deutsche Post.
With the aim of developing and producing new mobility concepts and driving the change to new individual transport, he is still the founder of various companies for mobility solutions. Günther Schuh is also active in several supervisory, administrative and advisory boards.
