Dr.-Ing. Florian Degen MBA

Dr.-Ing. Florian Degen studied mechanical engineering at RWTH Aachen University, majoring in production technology. During his studies, he also worked abroad as a guest researcher in production-related research institutes in Canada (McMaster Manufacturing Research Institute) and Singapore (Singapore Institute of Manufacturing Technology). From 2011 to 2015, he worked as a research assistant in the "High Performance Cutting" department at the Fraunhofer IPT. During this time, he was focusing on activities in the area of turning of difficult-to-cut materials, especially in the field of turbomachinery components. In 2014, he became the leader of the group "High Performance Cutting – Basic Analysis". In 2015, he obtained his doctorate with a dissertation on the "Development of Simultaneous Three Axis Turning". From early 2016 to mid-2019, Dr.-Ing. Florian Degen headed the "High Performance Cutting" department at the Fraunhofer IPT.
